Three exciting teachers are coming soon to La Ruche Davis as part of our Visiting Artist Masters Program. To ensure an intimate ambiance, lots of personal attention to each student, and an open, free exchange of techniques and ideas, enrollment will be limited to ten students per class. Registrations are now being accepted, and classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The studio has plenty of extra textures, but all students are expected to bring their own metal clay working tools. Bring your own, or buy the Ann Davis Tool Kit from Whole Lotta Whimsy. For registration or further information contact classes@laruchedavis.com.

LORENA ANGULO - MILAGRO HEART OR BURN-OUT CORE PENDANT IN PMC3
May 19-20
Ever want to make your own personal talisman or a shape of your choice as a burn-out core pendant? In her first class on the East Coast, the Fabulous, Incomparable, Enchanting Lorena will teach you how to create a burn-out core pendant by forming a shape on top of a burn-out core bead. You can also add your own personalized symbols. This is a not to be missed experience!
Students will learn to carve and hand sculpt their pendants with PMC3 and fire it over a core bead to achieve a hollow, openwork form adding a wonderful dimension. She will also teach her students how to hand sculpt flowers and carve details in the pendant.
Materials list: Metal Clay tools, PMC3 (25-50 grams), Carving tool with a “v” tip number 1, Your own texture plates, paper and pencil, fire in place CZs (optional).
Skill level: Determined Beginner/ Intermediate.
2 Days, 9:30 am to 5pm, $375

About Lorena Angulo
Lorena grew up in Mexico and the time she spent there absorbing beautiful, traditional Mexican Folk Art shows in the amazing works she creates. Currently Lorena is a faculty staff member of the Southwest School of Art in the Metals department. Her work has been exhibited at a number of galleries, museums, art shows and local boutiques. Her PMC jewelry has been widely featured in publications including the 2008, 2009, and 2010 PMC Guild Annual books, "Exceptional Work in Precious Metal Clay," Metal Clay Artist Magazine, Metal Clay Today, FUSION, The Art and Design of Metal Clay Jewelry 2010 and 2011 Calendars, Metal Clay Beads and The Art of Metal Clay (revised and expanded edition).
Lorena took her first metalsmithing class in 2006 at Southwest School of Art in San Antonio, where she was taught by Claire Holliday. She has been certified as a Qualified Metal Clay Artisan, and is an active member of the PMC Guild, founding member of its Metal Clay Artists of San Antonio Chapter, and the Society of North American Goldsmiths. In 2011 she was a member of the Jurors Panel for the PMC Guild Annual.

WANAREE TANNER - FREEFORM BEZEL SETTING IN COPPER: COPPRclay Bezel Settings & Making Unique Bezel Wire with a Silhouette Cameo®

Learn to bezel set unfireable stones from meteoric superstar Wanaree, with a totally revolutionary process!! This technique is game changing, folks!!!
The classwork will entail pattern making, dry construction, rolling textures, assemblage, hinges, wire bending, riveting, finishing, patinas, and closures.
Techniques students will learn in this class: firing, forming, and working in COPPRclay, compensating for shrinkage, finding the right firing schedule for your kiln, making a place holder form, creating COPPRclay “paper” type, with design in mind: simple ways to start designing unique bezel wire, with design in mind: custom made texture plates and stencils using Scratch-Foam®, secrets of the “FLOATING” bezel setting!!, extruding your own accents and components, how to set your stone without over stressing your delicate bezel wires, granulation accents and making your own dry clay punches, setting up your Silhouette Cameo, importing your designs & how to calibrate your machine.

Wanaree Tanner is an award winning, primarily self-taught, full time artist, with a love for illustration and a fascination with world mythologies. She started working in metal clay in 2008 and quickly became obsessed with turning two dimensional drawings into three dimensional forms. When copper clay hit the open market, she bought her first pack and never looked back. After two years of experimenting and dreaming, she’s feels she’s finally able to bring the forms lurking in her mind into reality.

Barbara has been a jeweler for over thirty-five years and a lampwork/bead artist since 1996. Recently she has traveled the country as a Senior Instructor for the Rio Rewards Precious Metal Clay (PMC) Certification Classes. In January 2011 she taught a fabulous class in Big Bling Rings rings at La Ruche Davis and returned in January 2012 for an equally stupendous class teaching her Pearl Porcupine Bead.
